My
wife and I were talking to a friend of ours, and my wife said that having a
baby has completely changed her perspective on God. She can better understand
God’s unconditional, unending love for His children. She gets the need, the
desire, to want to be close and connect...to have a relationship with with your
children. The forgiveness, the latitude for making mistakes and not holding it
against them.
It’s easier to understand the Father’s heart when
you’re a parent yourself. Your perspective changes. But sometimes I think it’s
easy to get caught up in the raising of the baby and forget to look back at
God. It’s easy to miss this deeper understanding of God as a parent and use the
birth of your child to grow closer to Him. It’s like how parents with new
babies will seek each other out and band together. Like a support group. Or
like how new parents will seek comfort and advice from their own parents or
older friends. We can do the same with God, because He understands our
struggles and frustrations, He never gets tired of hearing our baby stories,
and He’d love to give us help and advice.
