Sprinting Dwarves

We decided to let Troy run today on our walk instead of putting him in the stroller. He had been cooped up inside all day and needed to burn off some energy. He absolutely loved it! In fact, we couldn’t get him to stop. As soon as his feet hit the ground, he was off, pounding the sidewalk around the neighborhood. He ran for over a mile with me jogging along beside him and his mother following behind with the stroller. Obviously, he has to take a lot more steps than I do to cover the same distance, so he was exhausted by the time he finally stopped. Running beside him, listening to him breathing heavy, reminded me of the movie, The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, when Aragon, Legalos, and Gimli are chasing a band of orcs. Struggling to keep up with his two longer-legged companions, Gimli says, “We dwarves are natural sprinters! Very dangerous over short distances.”
