The Labyrinthine Wedding – Day 2

After a relatively easy and uneventful flight, we finally arrived in Athens today.  My mother-in-law met us at the airport, and after doing a bit of Tetris with the suitcases into her car, we arrived at her home and were treated to some lunch.  The first thing I noticed was that the temperature is much better here than where we left.  There was also a nice breeze blowing in off the sea that was making things feel cooler still.  Troy was immediately taken with my mother-in-law’s dog, and he proceeded to follow her around and smother her with love all afternoon.  The dog was obliging.

After lunch, my wife and I retired for a nap.  I was planning to stay up and go to bed at the normal time to avoid jet lag, like I have done in the past.  But normally we get in at late afternoon, and I don’t have to endure long.  Since we got in around noon today, I couldn’t hold out that long.

After the nap, Troy, my mother-in-law, and I went to the port at Raphina to stick our toes in the sea.  The water was a little cold, and the wind was blowing hard, but it felt really nice.  A steady stream of waves was crashing into the rocky shore and soaking the bottom of our pants.  Troy enjoyed throwing stones into the sea, and at one point, he managed to squat down just as a large wave crashed into his legs, and his entire backside got wet!

Not much else happened today other than food and sleeping.
