Since my wife’s mother and my parents were all in town for Troy’s birthday, we wanted to find something fun to do. So, my wife found this cool experience going on at the Trinity Forest Adventure Park. It’s called Astra Lumina. Essentially, you take walk through the woods, down lighted paths, and experience the stars through lights and music. But that in no way adequately describes what it’s like to be there.
They’ve divided the walk into different stations, if you will. Each station tries to recreate an aspect of the night sky, to make you see it, but also to feel it…to evoke an emotion in you. They use lights and music in various ways to accomplish this. Such as creating starlight on the ground by shining lights through giant cylinders perforated with holes that look like constellations. Or having you walk through arches of light that swirl and move around you. Or simulating falling stars or meteors coming to earth. Or giant lit-up spheres suspended in the trees that make you feel like you’re traveling through the cosmos. Or an entire meadow with dancing lights that twinkle and move like the night sky. Or a forest with light rays, cutting through the trees, like the light that shoots across the galaxy from the stars to us.
Each station becomes your favorite, because each is different from the last and evokes something different inside you…something elemental and natural. But the whole experience is so calming and soothing. It’s like you can leave all your cares behind and just be. Just be in the moment. Just be in nature. Just be still as the beauty of it all washes over you. It is a must-see, and I’m thankful my wife found it.
