Get in the Game!

Today, Troy and I got a special treat. We got to play video games with my brother CC for his birthday. We were playing Diablo 3, a role-playing game in which you build characters to fight against the demons of hell. We were humming along, destroying evil monsters in droves, when all of a sudden, Troy screamed out, “Get in the game, Uncle Chris!” I searched the screen to find my brother and saw him standing off to the side motionless. He replied over the phone, “I’m just changing my weapon. I’ll be there in a sec.” Troy was not pacified by this. “The battle will be over in a second! Just pick something already and get in here!”

I couldn’t stop laughing. Partly because my son is so cheeky. And partly because I used to say the same thing to CC when we played together. He was always holding things up by spending inordinate amounts of time looking at the junk in his inventory. Like father, like son, I guess.
